Arsenal Women complete signing of Cloe Lacasse

Arsenal Women have confirmed Cloe Lacasse as their second signing of the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old forward joins on a permanent deal after a four-year spell with Benfica. She scored 102 goals in 131 games for the Portuguese club, helping them win three Portuguese league titles, three Portuguese League Cups and two Portuguese Super Cups.

Individually, the Canada international was the league’s top scorer in 2019-20 and named player of the year last season.

Arsenal’s interest in her stretches back to January when head coach Jonas Eidevall stated publicly that he desired a “prolific striker” to provide Stina Blackstenius more support.

“I’m super excited and enthusiastic to get started here,” Lacasse said. “I feel ready mentally and physically to be able to contribute here and win titles and I feel that this club has everything it takes to compete for the highest honours. I want to go to the next level and score goals here for Arsenal.”

Eidevall added: “I’m really pleased that we have signed Cloe to strengthen our forward line here at Arsenal.
