Arsenal have re-signed former England striker Jodie Taylor on a short-term deal until the end of the 2022-23 season.
The 36-year-old joins the club following the expiration of her contract with San Diego Wave in National Women’s Super League.
Taylor previously played for Arsenal between 2016 and 2017, scoring 10 goals in 17 appearances.
“It feels amazing to be back – like I never left,” Taylor said.
“It’s incredible to have this opportunity to come back to the club that I love so much. A lot of progression has happened here in the last five years since I was last here and to see how much the club has grown and progressed is incredible. I’m very happy to be here.”
Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall admitted throughout January the club were in the market for a “prolific goalscorer” after forwards Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema suffered season-ending ACL injuries before the winter break.
However, Arsenal were unable to recruit another striker after seeing a world-record bid for Manchester United striker Alessia Russo rejected.
“We’re really pleased to have brought in Jodie to help us from now until the end of the season,” Eidevall added.
