The transfer portal in college basketball has allowed teams to tinker more frequently with their rosters. With that in mind, we decided to ask players a hypothetical question. We let them pretend they were in charge, and they could pick up any player to add to their roster. Which one would they want?
During the Seattle and Greenville Super Regionals, The Athletic reporters took advantage of the open locker rooms to ask more than 85 players in the Sweet 16 this question and a few others. We granted the players anonymity so they could openly speak, and they shared some fascinating and candid insights.
