Angelique Kerber will have an action-packed schedule when she returns to the circuit at the start of the 2024 season. The latest tournament the former world No.1 has been confirmed for is the January 8-13 Adelaide International.
The 35-year-old Kerber stepped away from competition before the 2022 US Open, announcing pregnancy by humorously noting that a Grand Slam with “two against one just isn’t a fair competition.” In February 2023, Kerber and her partner Franco Bianco welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Liana.
The 2024 United Cup will be Kerber’s first tournament since Wimbledon 2022. Alongside Alexander Zverev, Kerber will represent Germany at this mixed-teams event that will take place from December 29 to January 7 in Perth and Sydney. Then she’ll head to the Adelaide International, a combined WTA 500 and ATP 250 event.
As the WTA states, Kerber is planning a full schedule when she resumes her tennis career. Australia has proven to be a particularly fruitful ground for her, as she clinched the 2016 Australian Open title in Melbourne, triumphed at the 2018 Sydney tournament and secured runner-up positions in both the 2016 Brisbane and 2014 Sydney events.
