Angel Reese Unrivaled improvements: Chicago Sky star is growing into a good finisher in new league

Angel Reese had a promising first year for the Sky in which she was named to the All-Rookie team and earned a vote in Rookie of the Year voting. She proved herself as an excellent defender and elite rebounder (and no, it wasn’t just her own misses she was grabbing). 

The one area where she did need obvious improvement was in her finishing at the rim. Her conversion rate on layups was the worst in the WNBA and her overall field goal percentage of 39.1 percent was significantly lower than the league-average rate of 43.8 percent. 

Reese signed up as part of the Unrivaled league with the hopes of improving those aspects of her game. The 22-year-old looks to be doing exactly that. She’s averaging 20.3 points and 16.7 rebounds per game on an excellent 51 percent from the field over her past three games, turning into a star among stars.

Angel Reese’s shooting is coming around

The biggest change in Reese’s game this summer has been in her shooting. Her field goal percentage is up to a very respectable 47.3 percent (44-of-93) through the first 10 games of her Unrivaled season, which more closely resembles the 47.1 percent that she shot in her last season at LSU.
