Angel Reese records first triple-double of career as Chicago tops Connecticut

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese recorded the first triple-double of her career in Chicago’s 78-66 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday.

Reese finished the win with 11 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high 11 assists, as the Sky overcame an early 8-0 deficit to pick up just their third victory of the season. When Reese recorded her 10th assist with 2:46 remaining in the fourth quarter, she put both of her hands up, holding up her 10 fingers, as she ran back down the floor to celebrate the feat. She said someone had provided her with notice that she needed just one more assist to reach double-digits.

“(I’m) trying to get back to being super versatile,” Reese said. “And (coach Tyler Marsh) made that emphasis early on in the season. And I didn’t understand it, and I really was kinda confused and trying to figure it out. I’m still figuring it out. But I have patience.

“I’m just super excited, and then to add it with a win just feels really good.”

Reese has 30 double-doubles in her career, but she had never previously had more than five assists in a game. Reese, a 2024 All-Star, had assists to six different players.
