Ange Postecoglou says he has been working on the assumption that Harry Kane would be leaving Tottenham Hotspur since he arrived at the club.
The Athletic reported that Tottenham had accepted an offer worth more than €100million (£86.4m, $110m) from Bayern Munich for Kane on Thursday and the 30-year-old was given permission to travel to Germany on Friday.
Postecoglou, though, was keen to reiterate that this hadn’t been a surprise to anyone in north London after a protracted transfer saga over the last few months.
“We’ve been planning for this, it’s fair to say, for a while,” the Australian said. “It doesn’t take much investigative work to figure out that this was going to happen. This doesn’t change things dramatically from my perspective.
“His standing among our supporters speaks for itself. It’s fairly evident that Harry Kane will always be one of the greats of this football club.”
