Anett Kontaveit retired from playing tennis after Wimbledon 2023.
Like a bolt from the blue, the Estonian tennis player wanted to communicate her painful decision via her social media, which she made in recent months after a long ordeal dictated by physical problems.
The Tallinn native has won six WTA titles in her career out of fifteen finals played.
Her best result in Grand Slam tournaments is a quarter-final at the 2020 Australian Open. For her country, without a great tennis tradition, Anett was certainly the leading figure, having achieved several records in her career, first of all 2nd position in the WTA ranking, in June 2022.
