Andy Roddick happy Iga Swiatek finally received pretty notable recognition

American tennis legend Andy Roddick says it is nice to see world No 1 Iga Swiatek getting some notable recognition. Swiatek, a three-time Grand Slam champion, made TIME’s top-100 most influential people in 2023 list. “One of the things I love seeing because a lot of people on the women’s side get covered a lot more for a lot less accomplishments than Iga Swiatek.

So I’m happy that she’s getting this crossover exposure because it is well deserved. She is uber professional, she is finding her voice outside of the arena so I love seeing this for Iga,”

Roddick said on Tennis Channel.

Roddick happy to see Swiatek getting some recognition

For the past 14 months, Swiatek has been using her platform and position to raise awareness of the horror Ukrainian people have been living.

Reacting to the notable recognition, Swiatek admitted it was something she didn’t think could happen to her. “I have never thought that something like this will happen to me. Thank you @TIME for this incredible honor and recognition.

And thank you @MikaelaShiffrin for your words. It means a lot,” Swiatek tweeted. In a column for TIME, Mikaela Shiffrin – one of the greatest skiers ever – explained what makes Swiatek one of the most influential people in 2023.
