Andy Roddick says he is a huge Iga Swiatek fan but named Elena Rybakina as the No 1 favorite for this year’s Wimbledon title. Rybakina, 24, has a big game and she cruised past to her first Grand Slam victory at last year’s Wimbledon.
Going into this year’s Wimbledon, Roddick agrees with the notion that Rybakina is the No 1 favorite to repeat as Wimbledon champion in 2023. Although Swiatek is always a favorite, the Pole herself admitted recently that the grass is a surface that she has yet to figure out.
“[Elena Rybakina is my favorite to win at the All England Club] because she’s the best grasscourt player in the world. It’s pretty straightforward,” Roddick said on Tennis Channel, via Sportskeeda.

After naming Rybakina as the No 1 favorite for the Wimbledon title, Roddick also said Aryna Sabalenka is probably the second favorite.
Swiatek then comes as the third or the fourth favorite for the Wimbledon title. “You won’t find a bigger fan of Iga Swiatek than me. I have so much respect for her and so none of this is a slight to Iga, but she’s unproven on this surface.
