Andre Agassi’s ex-coach issues ultimate statement on Novak Djokovic’s 2023 success

Andre Agassi’s former coach and Coco Gauff’s current coach Brad Gilbert declared Novak Djokovic’s astonishing 2023 season as “potentially the best year on men’s tour in 50 years.” This year, 36-year-old Djokovic made all four Grand Slam finals and added three Slams to his collection to become the first-ever man with 24 Majors.

Since the French Open, Djokovic has made five consecutive finals and won four titles – his only loss came in the Wimbledon final against Carlos Alcaraz. On Sunday, Djokovic kicked off just his 12th tournament of the season at the ATP Finals.

By beating Holger Rune in his Turin opener, Djokovic also sealed his record-extending eighth Year-End No 1 finish. Earlier this year, Djokovic set a new record for the most weeks spent at the world No 1 spot by male or female.

If Djokovic wins the ATP Finals, he will also become the first-ever player with seven titles at the season-ending tournament.
