Boxing continues its attempts to create an equal playing field for women in the sport.
On October 27, Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions will feature the first 12 three-minute round contest for female fighters since 2007 when Amanda Serrano, the undisputed featherweight champion, meets Danila Ramos. The fight takes place at the Caribe Royale Orlando and will air on DAZN.
Despite Serrano’s undisputed status, the WBC title will not be on the line since that organization refused to sanction three-minute rounds for women’s boxing.
A seven-division world champion, Serrano has held gold from bantamweight to super lightweight. She had her 28-fight win streak snapped by Katie Taylor in a fight for the status of undisputed lightweight champion in April 2022.
Since then, Serrano has defeated Erika Cruz in February to become the undisputed featherweight champion. “The Real Deal” last fought in August, defending her belts against Heather Hardy in a rematch.
Since signing with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions, Serrano has been at the forefront of change for women’s boxing, with her main event appearance against Taylor being the pinnacle.
