“I’ve really been struggling with my mental health and burnout since the summer of 2022,” the 2019 Roland Garros semifinalist Anisimova wrote on Instagram. “It’s become unbearable being at tennis tournaments.”

The 46th-ranked WTA player who hasn’t recorded a win since February went on to explain: “At this point my priority is my mental well-being and taking a break for some time. I’ve worked as hard as I could to push through it.”

Without giving a timetable for her return, the former world No.21 Anisimova finished her Instagram message by saying that she will miss being on tour and that she appreciates all the continuous support. (photo: Jimmie48)
