She announced that due to an injury, she will be unable to compete at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome. On Saturday, during the semifinal match against Lois Boisson at the WTA 125 event L’Open 35 de Saint Malo in her home country of France, the 34-year-old Cornet sustained an injury. This unfortunate incident has forced her to skip the upcoming tournament in Rome.
“I’m so sad not to be able to play in Rome and say goodbye to this tournament that I like so much but the injury that occurred on Saturday during my match in Saint Malo doesn’t leave me a choice,” Cornet wrote on Instagram. “I can’t even say that I will be back next year. So I will just say grazie mille for the memories, Internazionali BNL d’Italia,” she concluded, acknowledging that by next year, her career will have already come to a close.
