England defender Alex Greenwood is “conscious and talking” after sustaining a head injury during England’s 3-2 Women’s Nations League loss against Belgium.
Greenwood, 30, went down after a collision with Belgium’s Jassina Blom in the 19th minute of the match at Den Dreef in Leuven. Team doctors from both sides were quickly on to attend to both players, with Blom sitting up shortly after the incident.

She was treated on the pitch for approximately 10 minutes before being taken off on a stretcher to be replaced by Jess Carter. Blom played on with a bandage on her head until she was later withdrawn in the 74th minute.
At half-time, the official England account confirmed on Twitter: “Alex Greenwood is conscious and talking, and is being monitored by our medical staff.”
“It wasn’t nice to see her in pain,” Bronze told ITV after the match. “But I’ve been told she’s doing well and that she’s okay.
“It’s a head injury so you can’t take it lightly, and the medical team were superb on the pitch in making sure she was safe. We wish her a good recovery.”
England coach Sarina Wiegman added: “She’s alright….
