A’ja Wilson 1,000 point-season tracker: Aces star on pace for best scoring season in WNBA history

Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has taken her game to new heights this season, and is the favorite to win the league’s MVP award. While she’s been impressive on both sides of the ball, her offensive impact has stood out, and she’s on pace for the best scoring season in WNBA history. 

Wilson recently recorded her fourth career 40-point game, which brought her into a tie with Diana Taurasi and Breanna Stewart for the most such games all-time. On Tuesday, she put together another brilliant night in a win over the Chicago Sky: 30 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks on 10-of-19 shooting. That was her 11th 30-point game this summer, and is one away from tying Maya Moore and Jewell Loyd for the most ever in a season. 

For the season, Wilson is averaging 27.5 points per game, which would be the highest single-season scoring average by a wide margin, besting Taurasi’s 25.3 points per game in 2006.
