BBC Radio 1’s Adele Roberts, who underwent surgery for her bowel cancer just 18 months ago, has set a Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon with an ileostomy (female), with a time of 3:30:22.

She dedicated her achievement to “warriors living with cancer, for all the incredible ostomates around the UK and for the heroes of the NHS”.
Adele was presented with a framed Guinness World Records certificate to mark her result after the race. Her partner also made a miniature kit bag and race number for Audrey, as well as a tiny finisher’s medal.
The 44-year-old was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2021, under going chemotherapy treatment as well as an ileostomy, where her small intestine was brought outside of her body to aid healing. This is why she is currently using a stoma bag.
