Aces’ Riquna Williams has charges dropped after domestic violence arrest: Report

After being arrested on July 25 in a domestic violence incident, Las Vegas Aces guard Riquna Williams had criminal charges against her dropped on Thursday according to the Associated Press. Williams had been assessed with five felony counts and four misdemeanor counts, but the prosecution could not continue with the case because Williams’ wife — the alleged victim in the July incident — stopped cooperating with the attorneys.

Per the AP, Williams is no longer in house detention and GPS monitoring has been lifted. Her attorney Brandon Albright said that Williams was still undergoing treatment for a mental health disorder, but did not give further details.

Williams hadn’t played for Las Vegas during the 2023 season prior to her arrest because of a back injury, and the Aces precluded her from participating in team activities following the incident. However, her attorney indicated that Williams is healthy and hopes to rejoin the team for the postseason, which begins Wednesday.

Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon referenced Williams’ absence after a recent defeat to the New York Liberty once again highlighted the Aces’ depth issues.
