With the college soccer regular season now complete, the best teams in the country will battle for postseason glory.
Before the NCAA Tournament takes flight, each conference must crown a champion. Each conference tournament winner will earn an automatic berth to the national competition, while other teams must earn at-large bids determined by the committee.
For both men’s and women’s soccer, the best conference in the country is the ACC, which annually boasts multiple top-ranked sides. This season, the ACC can stake claim to three of the top five teams in the NCAA men’s rankings and seven of the top 25 at the conclusion of the regular season.
Clemson, which won the national championship last year, is back among the nation’s elite after an early-season slip, with Pitt, Duke and North Carolina all considered top contenders. Newcomers SMU and Stanford are hoping to make some noise, while other teams like Wake Forest are looking to strengthen their resumes with a few more wins.
