This offseason will look like no other in the NWSL’s history, as teams prepare for two expansion teams entering the league. The league will also introduce restricted free agency, dropping the required service years for free agents from six to five years allowing players to have control of their futures.
From publicly available information(but not an official list), there appear to be more than 50 players who could become free agents this offseason. Chicago has the most players becoming free agents this offseason, and Angel City is in second—10 and seven respectively—while North Carolina has the fewest. There have been more than 10 players who could’ve become unrestricted free agents who had extensions or new contracts signed throughout this season, with Washington and Louisville being the most active in that space up to this point. The Equalizer will take a look into seven of the players who could be unrestricted free agents this offseason.
