Wake Forest and Stanford went into the NCAA tournament as No. 2 and No. 3-seeds, respectively, earning the right to host several early-round games. Here’s a recap of how each semifinalist made it to the 2024 College Cup and which teams they beat to get there.
Wake Forest (15-3-4)
The Demon Deacons travel to the College Cup for just the second time in program history, behind a back-and-forth battle with No. 1-seed Southern Cal which was won in a PK shootout. The last time the Deacs were in a College Cup was in 2011.
With a goal and an assist in the quarterfinal matchup, standout forward Caiya Hanks now leads the team with 33 points on the year — three goals and four assists in the NCAA tournament, thus far.
On their journey to the College Cup, Wake Forest beat Morehead State (4-0) and Colorado (3-1), and took down No. 3-seed Ohio State (1-0).
Stanford (16-4-2)
