World No. 7 Jasmine Paolini may be enjoying the best tennis days of her career and having so much fun on the court but she remains humble and very honestly admits that she didn’t believe all of this was possible for her.
After becoming a WTA 1000 champion in Dubai earlier this year – making her first Grand Slam final at the French Open – and breaking into the top-10 for the first time in her career, 28-year-old Paolini has now also been through to her first Wimbledon quarterfinal.
On paper, Paolini’s Wimbledon quarterfinal may not seem like a huge achievement. But when taking into consideration that Paolini came to this year’s Wimbledon with a 0-3 record at The Championships and that she started this year’s grass season without having a main draw win on grass, the Italian’s Wimbledon run instantly starts looking like a massive achievement.
