2024 Paris Olympics odds, track & field predictions, best bets: Olympic champion reveals picks for Aug. 5

Three hotly contested races highlight the 2024 Paris Olympics with the men’s and women’s 400 and the men’s 400 hurdles on the docket later this week. The women’s 400-meter run could come down to the wire with Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic the +100 favorite. Also expected to contend for a spot on the medals stand are Jamaican Nickisha Pryce (+140), Ireland’s Rhasidat Adeleke (+550), Poland’s Natalia Kaczmarek (+1100) and Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser (+1600).

The top two ranked runners in the world go head-to-head in the men’s 400. American Quincy Hall is the +175 favorite, just ahead of Great Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith (+185). Hall was an Olympic trials winner, while Hudson-Smith was the first European to breach the 44-second barrier at 43.74 seconds. Also expected to battle for a medal are Michael Norman (+500) of the United States, Kirani James (+1200) of Grenada and Great Britain’s Charlie Dobson (+1500).
