13th straight win: Danielle Collins follows up Miami title with a triumph in Charleston

In her final tennis season before retirement, Danielle Collins reached a career milestone with her longest tour-level winning streak. The American extended her streak to 13 consecutive wins by following up her Miami Open triumph with a title at the Credit One Charleston Open.

World No.22 Danielle Collins, unseeded at the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston, delivered a commanding performance in Sunday’s final, defeating fourth seed Daria Kasatkina with a score of 6-2 6-1. Despite Kasatkina’s strong desire for victory, she faced defeat for the third time in her three finals this season. Previously, the Russian finished runner-up to Jelena Ostapenko in Adelaide, Australia, in January, and to Elena Rybakina at Abu Dhabi a month later.

Following her triumph in Miami, Collins continued her impressive form by upsetting a number of prominent WTA players on the green clay of Charleston. In addition to her victory over Kasatkina, Collins also defeated Paula Badosa, Ons Jabeur, Sloane Stephens, Elise Mertens, and Maria Sakkari.
